Do you offer classes that are taught entirely online?
Yes! First, click on "courses" on the menu to the left. Then, click on one of the categories under "Online Education" . Click on a course to see a description and syllabus. Follow the user-friendly prompts for enrolling online or call the Community Education Office at (805) 654-6459 for assistance.
Who can attend Community Education classes?
Community Education classes are open to the entire community. While classes are generally designed for adults, many are appropriate for teenagers and some are specifically for children. Please call the Community Education office at 654-6459 if you have questions about a specific class.
Will I get grades or college credits for Community Education classes?
No. You will not get grades or college credits for Community Education classes.
Do I need a parking permit?
YES. You must have a permit to part on campus weekdays from 8:00 am to 10:00 pm. You may purchase a day pass for $1.00 at either the Information Kiosk in front of the Administration Buidling or in the East Campus parking lot. Cars without permits will be ticketed. Exceptions: You do NOT need a permit on Friday nights, Saturdays, Sundays, or anytime for classes located at 71 Day Road or at Annex 4. Parking at 71 Day Road (ICPD) is free. Parking in "Handicap" spaces requires a valid handicap placard. Please do not park next door in the CAPS building parking lot.
May I get a refund if Community Ed. cancels a class?
Yes. Preregistered students will be notified if a class is canceled. You may choose a full refund or have your fees transferred to another class. Please allow 3 - 6 weeks for check refunds and one week for credit card refunds.
May I get a refund if I drop a class?
If you are unable to attend a class for which you registered, you must notify the Community Education office at least two working days before the class begins, otherwise a refund will not be issued. Once proper notice has been received, your registration fee, minus a $10.00 cancelation fee, will be refunded. Please see Pharmacy Technician class for an exception to this policy.
I have an idea for a class! What should I do?
Click on the teaching page of this website to submit a proposal or call the Community Education office at 654-6459 and ask to speak with the Community Education Coordinator. We are always looking for new topics and individuals who love to teach!
